Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Jamie Borthwick and EastEnders co-star Amy Dowden join cast

EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick has been announced as the latest celebrity to join the line-up for Strictly Come Dancing 2022.

The actor, who is best known for playing Jay Brown in the BBC soap, will be partnered with professional dancer Amy Dowden for the upcoming series. Borthwick joins a star-studded lineup of celebrities, including Helen Skelton, Will Mellor, and Kym Marsh, who will be competing for the Glitterball Trophy.

Borthwick said he is "excited and scared" to be joining the show.

"I'm a huge fan of Strictly and I've always wanted to do it," he said.

Dowden said she is "thrilled" to be partnered with Borthwick.

"He's a great guy and I can't wait to get started on our journey," she said.

Borthwick and Dowden will be one of 15 couples competing on Strictly Come Dancing 2022.

The new series of the BBC One show will launch in the autumn.

Tess Daly will once again present the show, alongside Claudia Winkleman.

The judging panel will consist of Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.
